The village of Marseillan is simultaneously a village of fishermen, wineries, and a popular vacation destination for beach lovers. Marseillan was founded in the fourth century by a group of people from Marseilles. Today, the village offers a multitude of discoveries and curiosities that all rhyme with pleasure. The fantastic architecture of the church Saint John the Baptist, the ancient covered market place and the statue of the French symbol Marianne lead you on an excursion through the village’s history. While sightseeing, you will be welcomed the friendly local businesses and craftsmen.
Marseillan is also a village flavored by seafood, especially shell fish due to its location. The lively port gives the village an authentic charm, and also guarantees the quality of the seafood.
And as any seafood lover knows, a scrumptious oyster should always be accompanied by a delicious wine, thankfully the local winemakers are waiting to share the fruits of their labor. Additionally, one mustn’t forget the famous vermouth Nolly Prat ; a drink to discover and taste in its hometown.

Domaine de la Rouquette.
This winery can be found on the shores of the Mediterranean, 2 1/2 miles from the centre of Marseillan along the road to Mèze. The vineyard enjoys a Mediterranean climate and is bathed by a sea breeze, a light west wind called "Le Vent des Dames" (lou labech in dialect). It blows in the heat of summer, cooling the vineyard and helping to produce very aromatic wines. Brigitte and Henri Barde look forward to offering you a tasting of their wine range.
