The delightful Mediterranean village of Assignan, sits on a plateau with a magnificent panoramic view of the Pyrenees and Mont Canigou. It is at the heart of the Saint Chinian AOC wine region; a peaceful and well-preserved setting only a few kilometres from the Canal du Midi and the shores of the Mediterranean. In this cocoon, where the bywords are pleasure and serenity, one can immerse oneself in the world of wine and fine Languedoc culinary delights.
In 2015, the project for a real-life ''wine tourism village' came to life. Ever since, the tiny streets of this sleepy village are dressed in purple and have seen the birth, in turn, of elegantly decorated gites, a wine bar, a restaurant, a lingerie boutique, an art gallery and even a wine school!
A complete change of scenery is guaranteed and memories promise to be unforgettable.
Nature lovers can follow the marked walking trails. Two paths called Les Barralets and Les Bousigues, starting from the village, lead through the heart of garrigue countryside, standing stones, red earth and limestone causses.
Don't leave Assignan without enjoying a typical South of France evening. In summer the tiny village square is filled with music, for festive and convivial nights.
