This is a fabulous action bringing together social innovation and cooking excellence. It was initiated in Paris by the multi-starred chef Alain Ducasse, then Marseille took up the relay last year. The operation Des Étoiles et des Femmes is now in Montpellier.
It is headed by the restaurant-caterer La Table de Cana and its dynamic director Gilles Solies, and supported by a range of partners: INFA, Pole Emploi, Gess Groupement, and the Face Herault foundation. Thirteen women from priority districts in Montpellier and its surroundings have seen their motivation rewarded; they will join cookery training schemes with chef-restaurateurs in the aim of finding work.Companies involved include, The Club Chefs d'Oc Montpellier, fronted by Charles Fontès, starred chef from the Réserve Rimbaud, and restaurant professionals such as : Le Disini, La Diligence, the Mercure in the Antigone Centre, Place de la Comédie and La Grande Motte, the Vichy Spa in Juvignac, the Therminal 1 and The Pullman Hotel Group who have all signed up to this unique partnership for employment by each hosting a work-placement. This step delights Emmanuelle Simon, head project coordinator. 100% pleasure for all.
