Territory
Some 5000 Florensacois (inhabitants of Florensac) live on the 3600 hectares which form its territory, situated between the Herault river plain and garrigue, just a few kilometres from the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean coast.
Its privileged geographical position and enjoyable way of life have accelerated its development over recent years but the village has retained its soul and friendly welcome. It has a typical South of France architecture, with shaded squares and narrow backstreets inherited from its ancient history. This little town has a dynamic economic activity and a rich associative life.
Historic Florensac, with its rich past, only reveals itself to those who look closely.
From the Duc d’Uzes windmill (13th century) to the church of Jean Baptiste (12th century) and along the way taking in the various ‘doors’, the Place de la Republique dominated by Marianne, the symbol of the Republic, to the presbytery…Visitors pay attention! Ancient stones, remains of ramparts and traces of historic windows are sometimes hidden just around the corner, raise your eyes!
Wine growing
Wine growing has always been one of the keystones of the district’s economic activity. The important work undertaken in recent years to renew the grape varieties and improve the wine making process means that today Florensac wines rank amongst the best regional products. Every year they win prizes in national competitions.
Flores: The Florensac vineyard, in the heart of the Picpoul de Pinet appellation, is one of the oldest on the Mediterranean coast with a terroir perfectly suited to growing white grape varieties. Florès is, above all, a story of values, resolutely turned towards the future, demonstrating a willingness to work and succeed together. The Florès cooperative cellar produces white, rosé and red wines.
