This village merits more than a simple afternoon. Take a day or two to really enjoy Montpeyroux, after all it is a classified UNESCO World Heritage Site for its pastoralism. A great way to discover all of Montpeyroux' personality is on the "Trails of History". The "Randoland" also offers fun family tours of the differents sites. Montpeyroux is a traditional village where wine has been king for generations. Today it has 21 private wine cellars and even one vineyard that grows 60/100 of Terra Vitis grapes with 10/100 organic. The stories of growing grapes, making wines and life in general at a vineyard are told through scenography from the cooperative cellar's collective memory. Since 1950, the cooperative cellar has regrouped 120 winemakers and has been making about 20 different references of AOC and AOP Montpeyroux Coteaux du Languedoc wines. The appellation is famous for its flavorful red wines that have high concentrations of Carignan and Old Carignan. These rare grape types give them a particular flavor that is to be discovered with the Grande Cuvée 2012 Conte de Roquefeuil.
