Since 1950 this village’s cooperative wine cellar has been contributing to the fame of its fields that are sprinkled with Mediterranean essences. The 110 winemakers here work everyday with the upmost respect to the vines in order to obtain the best harvests from the generous earth. The variety and complexity of the grapes grown here is exceptional. Among the many gems of the AOP Coteaux du Languedoc Saint-Saturnin Appelation, that uses sustainable farming technics, the Noel Calmel’s subtle woody spices stand out (60 % Mourvèdre). The variety of the Sarah based Le seigneur des Deux Vierges’ aromas is more than impressive. Of course they are available to be tasted at the Wine Cellar, but why not discover the wines and the landscapes at the same time? The cellar organizes hikes that take you to the top of the Rochers des vierges (3 hours), a shorter Boucle Balade, and also the Trail to the Poet’s Wines (1 hour). The last walk mentioned will take you from the village to the countryside, through the grape vines and finally to the typical Latin gardens. The cellar-museum will also teach you about the history of wine and the local writer Max Rouquette.
