Nestled in the Nazoure valley, Cruzy welcomes you to the Saint Chinian foothills. The village is built around the imposing fortified 14thC. church. In the surrounding streets, here and there beautiful historical facades mix with ancient ramparts, where one can enjoy the refreshing shade beneath the vaults before seeking out shady village squares.
The museum is unmissable for its rich collection which highlights the region's archaeological and palaeontology heritage as well as remains of 17thC pottery and banners from the 1907 wine growers' demonstrations
Don't be mistaken! Despite its humble image the Cruzy museum has a global reputation thanks to its palaeontology excavations in April and June, led by Eric Buffetaut, Director of Research at CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research).
In the surrounding area, walks and short trails offer paths following the river Nazoure, the shaded and perfumed pine forests, and through the garrigue countryside. Along these paths a short detour will lead to the door of an AOC Saint Chinian wine producer, or into the depths of the emblematic Languedoc garrigue countryside and the chance to sample its products in the restaurant situated in the former rail station.
